These programs assist refugees in learning the English language in context with a job they may accept. This class is offered Mondays-Fridays from 1:00pm-3:00pm.Adults enrolled in these classes are trying to better their lives. Take Sonja for example, she came from South America to the united states holding a Master's degree. She was unable to find employment because she didn't speak English. Sonja enrolled in ESL classes, learned to speak English, and is now employed full time at a human service agency. Sonja's tutoring assistant didn't hold a degree, nor need one in order to help Sonja. He simply needed to have patience and a grasp of the English language, which he had.Requirements:Potential volunteers must pass a background screen. This position is looking for volunteers available weekdays on a weekly basis. An information session will be held every first Thursday of each month to provide more information about the opportunities offered working with the community services program and will provide time to complete application documents to become a volunteer.
